Vida recently collaborated with the March of Dimes (MOD) to create “Waiting for Baby,” a 19-minute video program promoting normal birth after 39 weeks gestation. Evidence suggests that for a variety of non-medical reasons, too many babies are delivered by cesarean section (C-section). This educational video helps to guide labor and delivery decisions. It includes information on the importance of waiting a full 39 weeks of pregnancy, as well as information on the ways to avoid medically unnecessary C-section delivery. “Waiting for Baby” is designed to help providers and moms-to-be recognize and avoid preventable risks by providing positive reinforcement for choosing normal birth over scheduled inductions and c-sections.
Aetna (NYSE: AET), a leading health care benefits company serving approximately 36.1 million people, is the first licensee of the video program. The DVD will be mailed to all expectant Aetna members, and will also be available online at Aetna.com.
Vida is looking forward to making this video program available to other third party payers interested in providing this resource to their subscribers.
